We present you the coastal town of Arguineguín, in the municipality of Mogán. This small village is located in the south of Gran Canaria with a slight orientation to the west. That is why here you can enjoy awesome sunsets every day. Sometimes, when the sky is clear, you can also see Tenerife and its peak Teide. Arguineguín also has its own fishing port and, thanks to this, maintains its local essence.
In the same way, there are some colonies of Norwegians and Swedes which have moved to Arguineguín and they are already perfectly integrated with the people from Gran Canaria. And it is normal that they have changed their place of residence, since the climate of Arguineguín is very similar to the one of Puerto de Mogán. This means sun guaranteed practically every day of the year. We leave you with one of the sunsets from the main beach of the town, Las Marañuelas beach.
In Arguineguín tourism coexists with the foreigner residents and the locals which works for tourism. In this town you will find everything: supermarkets, banks, restaurants, bars, ice cream shops and even some other shops. As it is a coastal town, you can not miss its beaches and sea promenades. We’re going to tell you everything next.
Different beaches to sea the sunset and bathe
In Arguineguín we recommend you two beaches where you can bathe and enjoy the sunset. In addition to Las Marañuelas there is a kind of pool with sea water that has recently been remodeled. It has a nice promenade, sun beds, umbrellas, showers and sand to lie down. Both bathing areas are very quiet for children since the pier helps that any wave comes.
As you can see in the first sunset photo, it was taken in the same place as the above one. The same happens with the one of the natural pool that we show you below.
The two beaches are quite local and nothing overcrowded, so we invite you to visit them at least to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.
Where to eat at Arguineguín
In Arguineguín we recommend you to eat at the fishermen’s restaurant “Cofradía de Pescadores” that is in the port. As you can imagine, what you can eat here is fresh fish of the day, as well as local food in general.
A walk from Arguineguín to Anfi del Mar
From the sea water pool that we mentioned before there is a promenade that joins the neighborhoods of Arguineguín, Patalavaca and Anfi del Mar. The walk is not in perfect conditions at all, but it is worth it, as it goes through the Arguineguín coast to Anfi del Mar. This last beach is one of the most touristic of Gran Canaria and even its sand has been brought from the Caribbean, so it would not be of our favorites, since for us it represents the opposite of the authentic. In any case, it is ideal to go with kids, as it is very quiet and has all kinds of services nearby. Later on we will write about it.
As you may see at the above and below pictures there are two different promenades. The one which is closer to the sea is not paved the whole way and there are even some small wholes. The one which is in the upper side close to the road has been finished a few time ago and looks very nice. From both of them you can appreciate the sunset and walk or run, but if you are with a push chair the above one is better.
Please enjoy it for us as you are on holidays!!
