A Ka Fresco, unique Japanese cuisine in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

29/02/2020 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

This restaurant is closed! Now there is another Japanese restaurant at this place.

A few years ago we discovered this creative Japanese cuisine restaurant named A Ka Fresco restaurant and today we want to share it with you. First, you should know is that this place is special and it is full of personality, not only for its cuisine. The chef is a young Japanese and he cooks and also serves. Something similar than the the Kim’s Pojangmacha. The place is quite small as you may check below:

As we explained you, the cuisine which he offers is creative and also exclusive. Between its best dishes we can stand out the A Ka hamburger and the fish tataki. Though in its offer they have the typical Japanese dishes, for example, the California makis, edamames and gyozas, here everything is fresh and different. We will describe you and show you some pictures from our favorites dishes:

  • A Ka Fresco meat hamburger. This hamburger has no bread and, as a substitute from it, we find two pieces of grilled rice. The burger has mear, cheese, tomato, lettuce and some yummy sauces. This hamburger could also be vegetarian, they make it with tofu.

  • Fish tataki. They elaborate it with some rice, sea algae, avocado, onion, tuna and cooked salmon. The best thing without any doubt is the mix of flavors and its juicy sauces.

  • The California makis from salmon and avocado. They have them also with tuna, but it seems to be that the ones of salmon are more nice. It is a matter of tastes. He adds some cheese cream to the makis to give them a tastier touch.

  • The fried gyozas. As you may see, it doesn’t have the typical steamed gyozas with the soft dough. In this case they are also filled in with meat, but fried and they come with a spicy sauce. The spice is not very hard. Anyway, if you can not stand a bit of spice you can order the sauce separate.

Drinks, desserts and price

At A Ka Fresco you can order Japanese beer and as a dessert they have the mochis. The best option in case that you want something authentic from Japan. Concerning the price, if you order wine, you can pay around 25€ per person. So that, the price is mid-range.

Opening hours, location and reservations

The A Ka Fresco restaurant opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 1:00 am to 4:00 p.m. and from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays it closes later, around 1:00. On Sundays it only opens for lunch and on Mondays it closes. It is located in the 24 Isla de Cuba street, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The telephone is +34600896946.

Due to the short number of tables, we will always recommend you to book in advance. Our advice is that you’d better book at first hour, because if there are some tables before it might take a bit to have your meal. Please consider that the same person cooks, serves and sometimes he could be quite busy.
